The primary objective of our program is to enhance the mental, emotional, and social well-being of children and youth aged 5-21 in the DMV who are experiencing social and emotional disturbances. Through a comprehensive, evidence-based, and participant-centered approach, this six-week initiative aims to focus on these 5 core objectives:
A Childs Chance
This structured yet flexible program aims to provide a therapeutic and supportive environment for participants to learn, grow, and heal. By focusing on developing emotional intelligence, social skills, and practical life skills, the program seeks to empower children and youth to navigate their challenges and foster a sense of community and belonging.
Improve Emotional Regulation
Equip participants with effective strategies for managing their emotions, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and increasing resilience in the face of challenges.
Foster Personal Development
Support participants in identifying and building upon their strengths, setting and achieving personal goals, and developing key life skills essential for independent living and well-being.
Promote Community Engagement
Encourage participants to engage with their communities through structured activities that build a sense of belonging, civic responsibility, and the importance of giving back.
Ensure Family Involvement
Actively involve families and caregivers in the therapeutic process, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to support their child's continued growth and healing beyond the program.
